VCAP6-DCV Deploy Study Guide

This series will cover all topics in VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6 – Datacenter Virtualization (VCAP6-DCV) Deployment exam.

Lab configuration

I have the luck to work for a mid-size european service provider, and this gives me some benefits with available compute, storage and networking resources. I’ll be using 3 physical hosts that will run all the other VM’s (VCSA’s, nested ESXi hosts, etc). So, my physical capacity for lab environments is:

  • Physical: 5 ESXi Hosts, with a total capacity of 71Ghz and 670GB of RAM;
  • I’ll have 5TB of shared storage available for deploying nested environments;

For the porposes of VCAP6-DCV Deploy, I’ll be using:

  • 2 VCSA with embedded PSC;
  • 1 Domain Controller (Windows 2012 R2);
  • 1 Certificate Autority Server (Windows 2012 R2);
  • 1 TFTP Server (Windows 2012 R2);
